This Cerema publication builds on the lessons learned from a citizens’ debate on the questions of driverless vehicles and the future of day-to-day mobility. It presents them in the light of current and future sustainable mobility issues. It also examines the role of public entities and civil society when developing public mobility policies around the deployment of driverless vehicles.
This citizens’ debate was held at the initiative of Missions Publiques on January 27, 2018. It brought together more than 350 citizens to discuss the issues of driverless vehicles and took place simultaneously in five cities: La Rochelle, Sophia-Antipolis, Rennes, Toulouse and Conflans-Sainte-Honorine. The day was run in partnership with Allianz, Airbus and Keolis, the Leonard cluster (Vinci group), the Forum Vies Mobiles, the urban communities of La Rochelle and Sophia-Antipolis, Grand Paris Seine et Oise, Rennes Métropole, Toulouse Métropole and Sicoval, alongside the General Commissariat for Sustainable Development (CGDD).
